Biography

Galip Dalay is senior research fellow at Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Russia & Eurasia Programmes at Chatham House. He also leads the Turkey Initiative and works at the institute. He is also co-director of Programme on Global Orders at the University of Oxford. 

He was previously Mercator-IPC senior fellow at Istanbul Policy Center and at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), and Richard von Weizsäcker fellow at Robert Bosch Academy in Berlin. He was also a CATS fellow at SWP. 


Dalay was also a visiting fellow at the Institute for Human Science (IWM) in Vienna as part of its Eurasia in Global Dialogues programme, a non-resident senior fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, and non-resident fellow at Brookings Doha Center. His work focuses on Turkey, the eastern Mediterranean, the Middle Eastern politics and security, Russian foreign policy, Eurasia, European security, and Central Asia. He also works on middle powers, and changing landscape of mediation, peacemakign and peacebuilding.

His work has appeared in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Project Syndicate, CNN, The National Interest, Newsweek, Le Monde, Internationale Politik, DW Opinion, Open Democracy, Al Jazeera and Middle East Eye.
