Natalya Kovaleva
New Generation Europe Foundation Academy Fellow, Russia and Eurasia Programme
Biography
Natalya Kovaleva is the New Generation Europe Foundation Academy Fellow. She is based at the Russia and Eurasia Programme, where her research focuses on political prisoner diplomacy and the dynamics of international negotiations under conditions of sanctions and isolation.
Since 2022, Natalya has been consulting private and public sector organisations on geopolitical, reputational, and financial crime risks as well as strategic and crisis communications matters. Prior to this, Natalya worked at a leading risk advisory firm where she led complex anti-bribery and corruption and anti-money laundering investigations across the Russian and Eurasian financial, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
Natalya holds an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London. Her PhD in War Studies at King’s College London explored the role of jazz in US public diplomacy towards the USSR during the Cold War.
