Major General (rtd) Professor Tim Hodgetts CB CBE DL

Biography
Professor Tim Hodgetts is an associate fellow in the Global Health Programme. He is a doctor of medicine (MBBS), doctor of philosophy (PhD), doctor of science (DSc), and doctor of the university (DUniv). He is an honorary professor of emergency medicine and a retired army general officer.
Tim has served as defence consultant adviser in emergency medicine, the inaugural defence professor of emergency medicine, and head of the Army Medical Services. On promotion to major general he became the Surgeon General to UK’s armed forces, the elected chair of the committee of medical chiefs in NATO, and Master General Medical.
Tim was awarded the CB, CBE and twenty academic medals through his active duty military career. He served as both honorary physician and honorary surgeon to the reigning monarch between 2004 and 2024. He was named by the BMA as one of the most innovative doctors in the country.
