Common Futures Conversations: How to build international cooperation

Experts and the Common Futures Conversations community outline policy proposals on how to develop greater international cooperation.

Event date and time: 25 July 2023 — 17:00 TO 18:00 BST

Event location: Online

The tumultuous events of the last few years have severely tested the international system.

As Russia’s war against Ukraine rages on and countries continue to recover from the devastating impacts of COVID-19, there has been a global upswing in conflict, nationalism and protectionism.

Meanwhile, the world seems ill-equipped to address existential crises such as the acceleration of global warming.

These trends have massively impacted the shape of societies and governments across Africa and Europe. The solutions to addressing these challenges will lie in how these continents, and their people, react.

Common Futures Conversations, Chatham House’s flagship youth initiative, offers young people in Europe and Africa the opportunity to engage with politics and develop their perspectives on key global challenges.

During the past few months, members have been sharing and discussing the challenges competition presents to building partnerships.

To mark the culmination of their work, a number of Common Futures Conversations participants will outline their policy proposals to a panel of decision-makers at this interactive webinar.
