The Russian invasion of Ukraine has sent shock waves across the world. In addition to the increasingly severe humanitarian crisis in Europe, the war has already had serious implications for the global economy, international security and geopolitical dynamics.
For the Middle East, the effects of the war are multifaceted: from implications for food security and destabilization of energy markets to regional political realignments and shifting security considerations. While Middle Eastern countries are currently trying to keep a neutral stance by not exclusively taking Russia’s side or that of the US and its European allies, it remains to be seen how their domestic priorities and current regional dynamics will affect their ability to balance between Washington and Moscow.
In this webinar, part of the MENA Programme’s Online Events Series, speakers will discuss the implications of the Russian aggression towards Ukraine for key Middle Eastern countries, and what the conflict will mean for the region both in the short and longer term.
This event will be held on the record and will be live-streamed on the MENA Programme’s Facebook page.
