Reception

Launch of Latin America Programme

Join us for a drinks reception to mark the launch of Chatham House’s new Latin America Programme.

Event date and time: 8 September 2026 — 18:00 TO 20:00 BST

Event location: In person — Chatham House

The Latin America Programme, founded in 2019 as the Latin America Initiative, has worked to elevate the hemisphere’s profile in international policy discussions, from promoting the region’s transatlantic networks and trade to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Haiti to supporting a just transition to democracy and broad-based economic growth in Venezuela.

Now formally established as a research programme earlier this year, it will continue to expand its work on transatlantic and strategic partnerships in trade, diplomatic relations and democracy, and shaping multilateral and international responses to humanitarian crises, diplomatic deadlock, and renegotiating and rebuilding regional and international norms and institutions to build on Latin America’s intra-regional relations and dynamics and its global role and interests.

This celebratory reception is an opportunity to hear about the programme’s direction and to connect with fellow supporters and partners. Remarks from Bronwen Maddox, Director and Chief Executive, Dr Christopher Sabatini, Programme Director, and Andrés Rozental, former Mexican Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Eminent Ambassador of Mexico, will set out the programme’s ambitions and objectives, and its role in navigating an increasingly turbulent geopolitical landscape.

There is limited availability for this event. Please register your interest via the website, attendance confirmations to be sent to successful applicants on Thursday 3 September.
