Falling oil prices in early 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic have caused significant disruption in emerging oil producer countries. This paper explores the latest challenges faced by new oil and gas producers and examines best practices for responding to crises going forward.

To support its members, the New Producers Group held a series of virtual meetings that allowed attendees to share their experiences and discuss their approaches to crisis management. The group’s focus is now on assisting members in dealing with the ‘new normal’ and examining the pandemic’s potential impact on the energy transition.
