Just as I was writing this, my travel agent emailed, informing me that my flight from Bangkok to Hanoi had been cancelled. Again.

The flight had been changed twice in the past two months. I had moved from London to Bangkok to be closer to home. My seemingly cunning calculation was that since Thailand has been gradually opening up to foreign visitors, Vietnam would soon follow suit. An hour-and-a-half-hour flight and you are in Hanoi. Makes sense, right?
