The World Economic Forum’s annual gathering at Davos, Switzerland, has brought leaders of government, business and civil society together to address global issues since 1971. As a forum for world leaders to meet business, it spawned the phrase ‘Davos Man’ to describe an ‘emerging global superclass’. Long a target for conspiracy theorists, and often criticized as out of touch, this year’s forum runs from January 15 to 19. Here are five notable moments in its history:
