Pepijn Bergsen is a research fellow in the Europe Programme at Chatham House. He works mainly on issues related to the European economy, ranging from economic relations with the rest of the world to the institutional setup of the EU and eurozone. One of his recent projects explores the relationship between the economy and the functioning of democracy in Europe. Before joining Chatham House, he worked as an economic policy adviser for the Dutch government, focusing mainly on international trade issues, and spent several years as an economic and political analyst working on Europe at the Economist Intelligence Unit.
Antony Froggatt is deputy director and senior research fellow in the Environment and Society Programme at Chatham House. Antony specializes in global electricity policy and the public understanding of climate change. His most recent research projects cover the energy and climate policy implications of Brexit, the technological and policy transformation of the power sector, the COP26 summit and the impact of the war in Ukraine on energy and food security. He has worked as an independent consultant for 20 years with environmental groups, academics and public bodies in Europe and Asia.
Veerle Nouwens is a senior research fellow at the International Security Studies Department of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), where she leads the Indo-Pacific Programme. Veerle specializes in geopolitical relations in the Indo-Pacific region, China’s foreign policy, cross-strait relations, maritime security and ASEAN affairs. Prior to joining RUSI, she worked for the European External Action Service at the Delegation of the European Union to Singapore.
Raffaello Pantucci is a senior associate fellow at RUSI, as well as a senior fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore. His work focuses on China’s relations over its western borders in central and south Asia, as well as terrorism and counterterrorism. Raffaello has advised governments in Asia, Europe and North America. He is also the author of two books, most recently Sinostan: China’s Inadvertent Empire (Oxford University Press; April 2022).
