Biography
Robert Dewar has spent most of his life in Africa. In his latter career he was British Head of Mission in Abuja (High Commissioner and Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, also accredited to Benin and Equatorial Guinea), Addis Ababa (Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU, also accredited to Djibouti), Mozambique (High Commissioner) and Madagascar (Ambassador, also accredited to Comoros).
His belief in systems thinking underpins his close interest in Africa and climate change and his view that policy thinking should integrate climate, biodiversity and sustainable development considerations. Humanitarian issues and marine conservation are also of particular interest for him.
He was awarded a CMG in 2006.
