Biography

Eduardo Vasconcelos is a Schwarzman Academy Fellow with Chatham House’s Latin America Programme. His research examines how institutions shape productive upgrading in Latin America’s critical mineral supply chains.

Previously, Eduardo was a director in the Child Mind Institute’s Global Programs team, supporting systems capacity for child and adolescent mental health in low- and middle-income countries. He founded a national school-violence prevention nonprofit, Young Peacebuilders, and co-presided over the Harvard Association Cultivating Inter-American Democracy. He was named to Forbes Brazil’s Under 30 in Science and Education.

Eduardo holds a Master of Global Affairs from Tsinghua University, where he was a Schwarzman Scholar, and a BA in Government (Cum Laude) and Economics from Harvard University. His Harvard thesis on illegal gold mining and local government capture in the Amazon rainforest received the Kenneth Maxwell Thesis Prize; his master’s thesis on Chinese investment and economic complexity received Tsinghua University’s Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award.
