Biography

Leslie is an international water expert specializing in water resilience, with an interest in water stewardship, governance and supply chain risk. As an advisory consultant she has worked with various donor governments and international organisations on the design, strategy and evaluation of flagship programmes.

Earlier in her career she worked at UNICEF, where she led large-scale water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes; she also worked on national water sector coordination, including stints based in Haiti, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Nepal and at the UN headquarters in New York. Leslie has held roles in international water policy, governance and knowledge with Oxfam GB and the World Bank.

Leslie has published in journals including Water Alternatives, has co-edited Resilience of Water Supply: Experiences from the Frontline and is a previous co-editor of Waterlines journal. She lead-authored Water Under Fire Volume 3: Attacks on water and sanitation services in armed conflict and the impacts on children.    

At Chatham House she is supporting the Fair Water Footprints programme, as well as contributing more broadly to the institute’s work on water and trade in the context of geopolitical and environmental trends.
