The future of corporate governance

What does the future of the board and corporate governance look like?

Event date and time: 21 June 2021 — 15:30 TO 16:30 BST

Event location: Online

Corporate governance is at a turning point. Driven by investor pressure, as well as other factors including the COVID-19 pandemic, social inequalities and the climate crisis, corporate leaders are re-examining the role of business with an increased emphasis on corporate purpose and, as a result, scrutiny of corporate boards and independent directors has never been higher.

In the UK, there is impetus at the government level to reform frameworks for corporate governance, re-establish trust and transparency in how companies are run, while ensuring that investors have access to reliable and meaningful information on performance.

This event, in partnership with EY, discusses the evolution of board and corporate governance with respect to the role of directors, CFOs, audit committee chairs and non-executive directors and identifies the trends that will impact them in 2021.

  • What does the future of corporate governance look like?

  • How can effective corporate governance deliver improved accountability, integrity and traceability?

  • What are the trends driving corporate governance reforms at a global level and what are the implications at a regulatory and business level?

  • How will the UK’s proposed reforms to corporate governance affect the role of directors and auditors?
