Japan-UK cooperation in Africa: Looking ahead at TICAD8

— This event examines how Japan and the UK plan to work together in their outlook on Africa, with the aim to encourage peace and stability in the continent.

With the New Approach for Peace and Stability in Africa (NAPSA), launched at the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), Japan has endeavoured to encourage peace and stability in Africa. In a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), Japan is also keen to engage with East Africa, a region with great potential within the continent.

The UK has also outlined its commitment to tackling peace and security issues particularly in the East Africa, such as conflict-resolution and assistance for stabilisation in Somalia and Sudan, as seen in the Integrated Review of the UK’s Defence, Security, Development and Foreign Policy in 2021.

This event is part of a series of four webinars held in partnership with Japan House London
