Why become a member?

Our members are drawn from the worlds of business, diplomacy, academia, politics, the media and civil society, and include large numbers of students.

Based in more than 75 countries, members play an essential role in questioning and challenging world leaders and other speakers when they visit Chatham House. Their contributions play an integral role in sustaining our independence.

Our members' support ensures that we can continue to drive debate, provide impartial analysis and disseminate new ideas to a diverse audience.

Membership subscriptions account for approximately 17% of our total income. They include around 3,150 individual members and 395 corporate members drawn from private companies, governmental departments, embassies and high commissions, universities and academic institutions, media organizations and NGOs.

Payment method and application process

Members are asked to pay annually by card or Direct Debit. We do not offer quarterly or monthly membership renewals. The application form will take approximately 10 – 15 minutes to complete and will require applicants to complete a personal statement of approximately 150 – 250 words (details are included on the form). Our membership team will then review your application and notify you within two weeks whether it has been successful or not.

Testimonials

One of the singular attributes of Chatham House’s focus on international affairs is its dedication to addressing future concerns before they become problems of the present.
