How should Western democracies respond to human rights violations, a weakened democracy and a questionable electoral process in Nicaragua?

This event will discuss the situation on the ground in Nicaragua and assess the appropriate response from Western democracies.

Nicaragua is having elections on the 7th of November. The minimum conditions for a free, fair and transparent election have not been met, and the whole process is likely to be fraudulent. Chatham House and the LSE School of Public Policy will be co-hosting a virtual panel  to discuss the situation on the ground in Nicaragua and appropriate response from Western democracies.
