Conference

UnConference 2025

What new approaches to networks, collaboration and governance can most effectively accelerate the next decade of climate and nature action?

Event date and time: 19 September 2025 — 10:00 TO 17:30 BST

Event location: In person — Chatham House

Earlier this year, the Sustainability Accelerator launched ‘The Rift’, a research cycle which explores how the climate and nature transition might evolve to navigate the new realities of a turbulent world.

As part of this work, this year’s UnConference brings together a range of stakeholders to explore the vital role non-state actors can play in this crucial moment. From visionary city mayors and innovative DAOs, to pioneering voices in finance and business, non-state actors are already playing a crucial role in the transition.

At the event, participants identify inspirational and effective examples from around the world, and explore how innovative forms of partnership and collaboration can accelerate progress during this complex and crucial decade.

The UnConference uses a method of convening called ‘open space technology’. Participants propose and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions, harnessing the collective potential ofall of participants to identify and shape new ideas throughout the discussion.

Topics to explore include:

  • What can we learn from success stories of effective collaboration on climate and nature action from around the world?
  • What kinds of novel partnerships across sectors and geographies can accelerate and expand progress?
  • How can we ensure collaboration, rather than isolationism, thrives in an era of national and geopolitical turbulence

Please note this event is usually oversubscribed and we will confirm registrations in early September.

Event format and who can attend

Conferences bring together global policymakers, business leaders and civil society experts. Over one or two days, they feature on the record keynotes and high-level panel discussions, and ‘under the Rule’ spotlights, ensuring multi-stakeholder collaboration and the advancement of conversation on the key issues facing the world today.

Held in our Joseph Gaggero Hall, conferences are primarily paid for events with places available to everyone, including preferential rates for our corporate members. Occasionally, they are invitation only or balloted, with places available to those who register their interest.
