Elbridge Colby argues the US must adopt a more realistic, geopolitical approach.

Europeans are keen to understand the strategic debate in America about where US foreign policy is likely to head in the future.

Elbridge Colby, former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Force Development, discusses his views as to what US foreign policy should seek to achieve and what it should focus on.

Colby lays out his view as to why the US must adopt a more realistic, geopolitical approach, one that requires it to focus on husbanding its military strength and geopolitical capital for Asia, which he contends is now the world’s decisive theatre.

Colby also discusses why he believes this approach is likely to carry the day in Washington and what this means for Europe.

This event is part of our ongoing series on the future of a conservative foreign policy in the United States.
