Oli Brown
Associate Fellow, Environment and Society Centre
Biography
Oli Brown has been an associate fellow with the Environment and Society Centre since August 2018 following an earlier stint from 2012-14.
Between 2014 and 2018 Oli was based in Kenya where he coordinated the UN Environment Programme’s work to minimize the risks and impacts of disasters, industrial accidents, and armed conflicts. Between 2010 and 2012 Oli managed a UNEP country office in Sierra Leone, and before that he was a senior researcher with the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
Oli has particular interests in environmental peacebuilding, strategic planning, trade policy, climate change, and extractives. Based in Paris, he also teaches at the Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs.
He has degrees in Anthropology and History from the University of Glasgow, a master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and a master’s degree in Environmental Science from the School of African and Oriental Studies, London.
