Ever since it was founded in 1920, Chatham House has relied on both individuals and institutions to support its mission, especially as a think tank platform for informed debate on the most pressing issues in international affairs. Our members are drawn from the worlds of business, diplomacy, academia, politics, the media and civil society, and large numbers of students.
Based in more than 75 countries, they play an essential role in questioning and challenging world leaders and other speakers when they visit Chatham House, and their contributions play an integral role in sustaining the independence of Chatham House.
We continue to welcome applications from new members.
The current public health guidance for ‘social distancing’ and not to hold large or small gatherings does mean we cannot unfortunately admit members to Chatham House itself (our building at 10 St James's Square) and will not be holding any public or members’ events at the institute for the time being.
However, we have put in place new online formats for convening, allowing members to engage with our research and with pre-eminent speakers remotely to retain the levels of interactivity that are the hallmark of our convening.
The Chatham House library will also continue to facilitate the loans of books, by taking email requests at library@chathamhouse.org and posting books out to members whenever possible, and a full suite of electronic library and other resources remain available to members.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Membership Team by email at membership@chathamhouse.org.
