Why Iran's Oil Export Industry is Under Pressure

Sara Vakhshouri

Founder and President, SVB Energy International

Sara outlines how Iran is working with the value of its currency in relation to the dollar to try and lessen the impact of volatility in the market price of oil.

She says the country is also trying to generate more income using cryptocurrency, especially through trilateral agreements with Russia and Armenia. However the threat of further sanctions from the US could be problematic.

In addition, although historically the relationship with China has been strong, Sara says a reduction in Chinese oil imports from Iran is a concern, and that negotiations have become tougher.
