Panel Recording

Preparing for Digital Transformation

Drawing on their varied experiences, the panellists discuss where and how the intersection and implementation of these technologies is likely to cause most vulnerability.

Event date and time: 10 July 2019 — 13:00 TO 14:00 BST

Event location: Chatham House | 10 St James's Square | London | SW1Y 4LE

The merging of technologies – such as elastic cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data and the internet of things – could cause disruption across nearly all industries and sectors. Digital transformation will necessitate significant changes in the way consumers, businesses and governments plan and operate. The emergence into every day life of these intersecting technologies will require leaders and CEOs to invest time, effort and capital into ensuring the long-term survival and success of their organizations.

  • How can policymakers and CEOs prepare for this disruption and how should they incorporate it into short- and long-term planning?
  • What will this transformation mean for global industrial competition?
  • And what is the role of the government and policymakers in supporting and regulating this digital transition so that the disruption is as manageable as possible?

This event is part of Chatham House’s Digital Society Initiative (DSI) which brings together policy and technology communities to help forge a common understanding and jointly address the challenges that rapid advances in technology are causing domestic and international politics. The initiative’s mission is to maximize the full potential of this century’s most influential technological developments through solution-driven policy recommendations for a sustainably secure, prosperous and just world.
