Displacement of Civilians in Conflict

So serious is the plight of people in the Darfur area of Sudan, the UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, recently called for a western-backed, rapid reaction force, should the current African Union peacekeeping mission fail for lack of cash. This is a timely test of the world’s new resolve to protect civilians under threat in their own countries.
