As Peruvians prepare to elect a new president and congress on April 9, the main surprise so far has been the emergence of the ‘anti-system’ candidate, Ollanta Humala. A rank outsider until campaigning began in October, Humala has been pacing the front- runner Lourdes Flores since emerging in second place at the end of last year.
