Launch of the Journal of Cyber Policy
Professor John Naughton, Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Cambridge
Chatham House will launch the first edition of the Journal of Cyber Policy on 9 May. The new peer-reviewed journal will provide a valuable resource to decision-makers in the public and private sectors, who are grappling with the intersecting policy challenges that the internet and the digital age bring to the surface.
We are pleased to welcome the celebrated author, journalist and academic Professor John Naughton to speak to an invited audience at Chatham House. Professor Naughton will trace the internet's transformation from its early days as a military and academic research project, to today’s ‘general purpose technology’, which has become embedded into the lives of 3 billion users. He will consider some of the challenging questions we are posed with today: has the promise of a new type of mass media – in which users are active creators of content – been realised, or have we fallen into familiar patterns of passive consumption? What are the policy implications of the changing social context of the internet?
This event is supported by our publisher Routledge, Taylor & Francis. Copies of the first edition of the journal will be available to collect at the event.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
